Overview

Hosei University provides an education and science information network system as an information system platform to effectively use the University’s intellectual assets to provide comprehensive services including work support, class support, remote learning, global joint research, and dissemination of research results.
Users also have access to the Google Workspace suite (G Suite) of apps and features that Google provides to universities and education research institutes.
You must have an Integrated Authentication ID and Password (統合認証アカウント) to use Google Workspace suite.

User ID and Password

Overview

A User ID is a unique identifier that enables the computer to identify the particular user. An account gives a user the right to use personal computers and systems using the User ID and password.
The Computing and Networking Center Tama Office administers two types of accounts:Integrated Authentication ID and Password (統合認証アカウント) and Tama Information and Education System (tedu) Accounts.
These accounts share the same User ID and password.

Notice of User ID and Password

The User ID Notice (containing your User ID and password) is issued by the Computing and Networking Center Tama Office and is distributed by your department during the orientation for incoming students.
Please note that User IDs cannot be requested or issued over the phone.

Changing a Password

*If you change your password, it also changes the password for your Tama Information and Education System (tedu2020) Account.
*If you change your password from a public computer (on campus), always make sure to sign out of the computer or restart the computer and sign on again using the new password. If you do not take these precautions, access to the R: drive may not work properly.
*If you change your password, you will need to manually change the password saved to the on-demand printer app on your smartphone. See the following link for instructions.

Reissuing a Password

If you forget your password, we will reissue a password to you.
Please visit the Computing and Networking Center Tama Office with your Student ID. Refer to theBusiness Calendar (In Japanese) for the dates that the Office is open.
If the Computing and Networking Center Tama Office is closed, we will respond to requests to reissue passwords by email.
To request that your password be reissued, send an email containing the following information to
tjoho@hosei.ac.jp
・Full name
・Department/Course
・Student ID Number
*Some users may not have their email configured to receive messages from the University. If this happens to you, check your email receiving settings and contact us.


Gmail/Google Workspace suite (G Suite)

Overview

The University provides Gmail and Google Workspace suite (G Suite) for students to use. To use these services, an Integrated Authentication ID and Password (統合認証アカウント) is required.

Email Address

Your email address is listed on the User ID Notice that is distributed during the orientation for incoming students.

firstname.lastname.identifier@stu.hosei.ac.jp

Note: The identifier is two alphanumeric characters.

Example: ichiro.suzuki.49@stu.hosei.ac.jp

Auto Forwarding

You can automatically forward all emails that are sent to your University-issued email address (@stu.hosei.ac.jp).
This email address is listed on the User ID Notice issued to you by the Hosei University Computing and Networking Center Tama Office when you became a student. Emails can be forwarded to your personal email address or the email address on your smartphone.

Virtual Private Network

Overview

A virtual private network (VPN) is a service for connecting to the University network through an off-campus Internet connection (such as from your home), providing you with the same network environment as if you were connected from on campus. By using a VPN, you can use services provided over the University network while off campus (such as from your home or while away).

Wi-Fi

Overview

Wi-Fi service enables you to wirelessly connect to the Internet without a hardwired connection to your computer.
There are more than 350 Wi-Fi access points located throughout the Tama Campus, with more than 440 access points in all.
